You guys don't get it. It's not the "gay" part that made the kid get sent home. You're not supposed to wear any clothing that talks about alcohol, drugs, or sex. Well, that's sexual. Our school wouldn't allow it either. If a shirt said "I'm Straight, What Are You?," our school would make you go home or change.

Greenbrier High School is claiming the defense that a shirt with the word "gay" on it could potentially make students feel "uncomfortable."

Well the thing is, it's not being used in any context on the shirt. All it is is switching ga with gay. It's a pretty neutral shirt, yet people are offended by simply seeing it. All I'm saying is it's a sad world we live in.

In a perfect world, that would be the only issue. But there is definitely specific sensitivity with homosexuality in public.

^^^ Sadly, I have that thought in the back of my mind too. It's like, if you know you won't be accepted, try to affirmatively help the issue, not try to elicit a bad response from other people.

he doesn't live in san francisco therefor he shouldn't expect to prance down the street and not get looked at. same logic would apply to fitting in at school. he should of known better. the word "gay" being used in high schools would almost always generate negative vibes so i can understand why the school didn't allow it.
