Last week there was a protests in the Gayborhood led by the Black and Brown Workers Collective. They made a few stops, one of which was ICandy, a popular gay bar in the Gayborhood. They were protesting ICandy’s blatantly racist dress code policy that prohibits patrons from entering wearing Timberlands. Not Uggs. Not Boots. Timberlands.
It's not racist. They just don't want a certain type of person in there. If it was a white asian Indian or Hispanic person wearing them I'm sure they wouldn't be allowed in either. Why get mad at a dress cod? I know many clubs where no matter what color you are, you can go in wearing Jordans, or sneakers, or shoes with holes in them. I wouldn't wear my Jordans if I wanted to get in.
I did think gay clubs/bars were more inclusive than that.
