Just because the holidays suck where you live doesn't mean it's like that in the rest of Europe.

Seems to be. I don't think I've ever tasted actual pumpkin, only whatever artificial pumpkin flavours they use in the latte at Starbucks.

I've spent the holidays in Germany and Italy as well, it wasn't much different. Maybe Northern countries have more Christmas traditions and a joyful holiday spirit? Idk. Anyway, Americans are known for making a big show of everything, I'm sure it's better over there no matter how you look at it.

Not anymore, I think. Of course, America is the original country but it's getting more and more popular in Europe as well. Mostly as a fall decoration. My mum grows her own bio pumpkins but we only use them for making soups.

Some restaurants here use pumpkin for soups etc. I had it on pizza with amaretti once and WHEW

But it's definitely local. Halloween itself isn't, tho.

Pumpkins originate in North America so it makes sense. How it got associated with Halloween though, I have no idea.
