First off I have to say that I LOVE the song, but of course I'm not blind and I can see it being nowhere in charts. Do you think the problem is having no promotion or the song itself in your 'humble' opinion is just bad?
It's neither critically or commercially acclaimed
I just think the basic structure/melody and her voice are very off
Also it's so against the mainstream music right now
It did have promo, just not the conventional kind, as in televised performances and interviews.
The song just didn't click from the beginning. People didn't buy it, radio was hesitant and ended up not getting on board etc. I definitely don't think it's bad though. It really grew on me. There's a rawness and honesty to it, it's very good. But it's not polished or catchy enough to be a single and it doesn't have the structure of a hit, per se
I heard it for the second time ever yesterday at the mall. I was going down the escalator and when I heard the song it actually startled me because her voice sounds so annoying and loud.
It really doesn't have a lot going for it. The little promotion it received was very minor—radio interviews aren't going to help a song that much. She had no television appearances, the music video wasn't something that would get a lot of people talking like most of her videos, and the sound of the song is not something that radio would eat up. It's not bad, but for Gaga to come back with a song like this and give it unconventional promotion was not a good move if they wanted it to be a hit.
Critics didn't like the song. Gp and fans didn't like it either. Gaga didn't find success with any if her recent singles. It's not helping that she doesn't promote, but do you know if she has some plans ?
It's not a typical Gaga or pop song but a dance pop-rock song with raw loud vocals which means not radio and streamable friendly, taken from an era with main focus on the album and not the single
It comes down to both factors I think. Yes, the song didn't get a much-needed promotional push outside of a video premiere during the season premiere of FOX's lowest-rated show. But if the song were undeniably good enough, that ultimately wouldn't matter.
