How is he pandering? He right. We all (straight and gay) have this urgency to label people; so we know where we stand. It's like they become our property because they "play for our team".
It's an outdated ideology, so i understand why he's annoyed. "Coming out" feels very 90s, and it must be frustrating being famous and always proud of who you are, and the press acting like you struggled your entire life and just came to terms with it. He was never in, or hiding. It's reinforcing this idea that modern gays are still ashamed or afraid to accept themselves, which puts us 50 steps back.
Until a celebrity can say "I F whoever i want, and it's not your business" without people labelling or saying they're pandering, ashamed, afraid etc etc, we aren't making progress. Some of the gay community itself is to blame, for example you telling him to "take a dick and shut up".
