Is the phrase "Everybody's a little bit racist" a cop out? I feel like people will only say that when their tired of being scalped down to their skull. like are they trying to saying it's okay to make stereotypical jokes/microaggressions because everybody prejudice? ATRL do you believe that everybody is a little bit racist?

Everybody really is a little bit racist. That much is true.

But admitting this usually warrants a positive change. As in, "nobody's perfect but let's try our best (to not be racist)." It's basically admitted so that we can work towards progress.

You can't just say "everybody's a little racist so let me kill this random black person"

Not everyone but most people are at least a little bit racist, and I don't find anything wrong with it as long as you're not letting it effect people around you.

People will always think their own race/culture is superior to others (especially on a subconscious level) so yes it's true.

No matter how educated someone is, we are all immersed in a deeply racist society -- especially in the US, much of our history is built upon racism. It permeates most aspects of our culture. I truly believe that everyone has some racist beliefs, even if they're small/subtle and they don't realize it, even if they actively don't want to be racist. It's kind of impossible not to. The key is for people to keep learning and challenging their beliefs.

What is a "little bit racist" anyway though, like where is the cut off for it being a just little bit. It's so varied. Well anyway I'm not sure everyone is but there are plenty who are I guess "a little bit racist".

Honestly most of us are borned in a racist environnement, so it's not that we are racist it's just that we don't question a lot of things because we simply see them as normal because it's all we ever known. For example when I was a kid I never questionned why most if not all superheroes were white. Doesn't mean I thought all superheroes had to be white

Mess, calling racism harmless is so diminishing and that whole comment reads like someone who hasn't be on the end of those actions. I'd rather use terms like 'unintentional' if any because some people think what they say isn't racist or a problem. That doesn't apply to those who do it with edge obviously.

I don't think that everyone is racist but I think that everyone is born into a family or neighborhood where you judge people a certain way by their skin/where they come from/what they look like, and while you grow up it's up to you to drop those stigmas and realize that all people are human beings no matter what they look like.

In short, I think everyone is a bit biased, but not racist.
