What is it about E.MO.TION?
Can someone please tell me what I'm not hearing in this alleged greatest pop album of the decade?
I like Warm Blood, I didn't Just come here to dance and Emotion but everything else sounds like any other generic pop song to me
Is this just a certain sound catered to a certain audience that is not me?

I'm a big Carly fan and I agree it's WAY overrated, but for someone who produced Kiss and then Emotion, it's pretty impressive, and maybe because people didn't expect Carly to produce a quality album, they praised it more than how it should be. I just hope this reception inspires Carly to make a better album, which I'm sure she's capable of.

I don't use the album as a whole but 6 tracks are pop perfection, they create such a perfect atmosphere and take me to beautiful places, it's also a good example of how you can make an 80's inspired album without make it dated or sounding like trash.

In the Year of the Lord 2015,when evil forces rampantly ruled the world of music with dull melodies and tiredsome lyrics, came the messenger of God, by thy name Carly "Ray of Light" Jepsen with a weapon to end the darkness, E•MO•TION; and thus the synths of Run Away to God blew away the darkness there was. And thus, began the beginning of a new race, a race within the race of humanity, a race which bares no prejudice, no judgment but boundless freedom. A race we call Jepsies.

No album is going to appeal to every person, no matter how good it is. You and a few others on here might not like it, but that doesn't mean it's overrated.

idk, it's so overrated
the lyrics aren't that good, her vocals are super annoying and the production even though great at times, can get tiring.
when you think about the fact that grimes released a better pop album in the same year, which she produced all by herself instead of running after pitchfork darlings like carly did... oh well

It's definitely the most overrated album ever on ATRL.
It has some great songs on it but that's about it.

The reason why I like it is because of the purity of the pop sound it's going for. It doesn't try to be anything and it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's just an album full of ear candy, catchy melodies, simple lyrics. And it also has that really pleasant vibe to it. It gives me carelessness, innocence, nostalgia, joy etc. It's how pop music should sound, basically.
But there's nothing wrong with not liking it. It can't resonate with everybody. If it hasn't clicked with you, it's alright!
