I know a lot of human beings tend to be scared of rodents such as mice and raccoons. I understand raccoons since they are not cute and are vicious but why do humans tend to be squeamish with mice? I've even seen masculine men at the gym shriek and jump on tables when they see a mouse and it's bizarre because they listen to hip hop and rock. Why are some human beings scared of mice?

When I see rats crawling around on the tracks in the subway I can see how they could be seen as not so disgusting because I know they can't get me, but if one runs within 15 feet of me on the sidewalk I'm screaming and calling 911
