Drugs killing more americans than guns, cars etc now!

Heroin is usually cheaper than pills... and there is a huge heroin epidemic sweeping the nation so I'm not surprised. It's sad but... what can we do? most of these people who are addicted reject help
this is what happens when you send drug users to jail instead of harm reduction therapy or rehab . most of them end up not learning and then they continue using these drugs.
if people were more educated on drugs then these overdoses wouldnt be happening. you can safely use drugs but if theres no one teaching you what safe is....
I've lived in 2 of the worst drug states (Ohio and West Virginia), and I can attest to the fact that it's awful there. These numbers are 2 years out of date, so it's likely much worse with the groups of 20-30 heroin overdoses in a day happening in some cities. My sister (who lives in West Virginia) has been deep in her heroin addiction for about 4 or 5 years now. I don't think there's any helping/saving her at this point. The drugs are just too easily accessible, and the government isn't doing anything other than jailing the offenders.

Jail isn't the answer for consumers like your sister. It's a mental health issue and should be seen as a disease not a problem
Ugh. Just like we need sex ed, we need drugs ed. Tell people the effects of drugs and if they're becoming users, they should at least be smart about it. All these pictures of heroin-addicted couples with children on their cars or at the supermarket we're seeing recently are very alarming

I think that's the case with most drugs, but there are a few that everybody would be better staying away from (too high risk of death/too addictive for it to be worth it).
That graph in the OP is VERY disturbing. Look how fast it's increasing. A very dim future if that trend continues.
Baltic countries, and also Russia have one the highest suicide rates in the world. It is depressing to live there, and the weather doesn't help.
Woo, they should have included Russia on the map. I'm sure it would surpass the US. There are some cities where even children's playgrounds are seeded with used syringes
Honestly there has been a non stop campaign to show how drugs are addictive and detrimental to ones health. Everybody knows that doing drugs is bad. There is nothing more to be done really.
