Exploding cellphones blew up Lady Gaga’s plans to sing at Manhattan Center Thursday.Fans who had bought $4,500 tickets to the Samsung Hope for Children Gala were told the day before that it was canceled.
Samsung forfeited the costs of venue rental, Gaga’s fee, catering, security, etc., and the company will have to refund all the tickets.“Samsung execs thought it wouldn’t look good to be partying while their phones burned, as it were,” one source said. “But [the *cancellation] was a multimillion-dollar disaster that will actually bring more attention to the recall.”
