This is why you go to court to prove your case. You'll probably get more money and peace of mind in the long run. I don't understand why people never see that as an option. I don't know what happened and when you opt out of the court system in these cases no one has a chance to properly assess the situation.

That still doesn't justify the racism and the assault. Similar assaults had already been taking place prior to this one. The pie thrower should've known that a person who may have sexually assaulted someone might also be able to knock you the-F out if you tried it with them.

I think a non-violent approach is the best one to take, but, like I said, no one should be allowed to get that close to a public official. Hopefully the mayor's security service is updated.
