When you go out for something to eat do you leave the waiter/waitress a tip? Is that customary in your country and if so how much do you usually leave?
Only when they were really nice. I dont get the big deal about tipping, its nice if someone does it but its not like the food is cheap and the employees dont get their salary every month
And I dont think you should expect someone to pay extra money, especially americans. its so greedy
If you are in the US, and you don't tip, then
The prices of the meals are cheaper because it is assumed that you will pay a tip, and some servers get $2/hour because they are assumed to receive the rest of their wage in tips
I relied on tips being a server when I was in my late teens/early 20s, so yes.
20 percent unless the service is abysmal.
Those in the US who do not tip: You should be ashamed of yourselves. Servers make $2.13 an hour, which doesn't even cover taxes. If you can't afford to tip, go get fast food or stay home.
