Her career as a pop girl is done. She should just release jazz albums or something that old people like.
Young people don't care for Gaga anymore.
She'd be more successful if she'd stop trying so hard to be cool and current.
She should just wear beautiful gowns and sing jazz or whatever old people like.

So if you debut at #15 on the Hot 100, it's a giant failure and you should just not be a Pop artist anymore? Damn, my poor fave Kelly.
I swear some of you have the most messed up priorities.

I won't even dare to compare Gaga and Kelly because Kelly has never try to be anything she isn't.
She's been successful and not but always stayed true to herself.
Gaga, on the other hand, went from crazy antic to ridiculous antic, just to keep her relevancy.
She wants to be a SUCCESSFUL pop artist and she won't be anymore.
She doesn't attract the crowd that gets you to the top of the charts.
She can continue trying to make pop but she can be mediocre at it or she can do jazz and be a bit more successful.

Except that isn't true. She clearly doesn't have success as her #1 priority this era....she released a lead single that isn't super trendy or anything, she has barely promoted, and hasn't seemed nearly as concerned as she used to be. ARTPOP was the first time that success didn't come easy for her, and the first time she had a chance to reevaluate her life/career. She spent time away from Pop, got her priorities straight, and is back keeping a clear mind.
It was nothing about "antics", that's just who she is as an artist. She's always been very theatrical and has incorporate that into her performances/music. She said herself, the way she dresses/presents herself/etc is just what she's feeling at that time of her life, in the moment.
Of course she'd love everything she releases to be successful. But she doesn't have that as a big concern anymore....there is so much more she could be doing for this song if she wanted it to be a big smash out the gate.

Can someone post BTW's first 2 weeks (10 days) so the poster above can stop pretending this isn't tragic and embarrasing? I understood the monsters being on denial during Artpop (and obviously during MTN) but now this is just plain stupid.

The only thing that's tragic and embarrassing is you guys spending so much time hating on an artist you don't like. I'm just being a fan of an artist, rooting for them and staying positive. I'm sorry if it bothers you, but I think these numbers are fine all things considered, and this isn't a song that was going to smash out the gate.
And not you wanting to compare Gaga's career peak, 5 and a half years ago when she was riding off of crazy momentum of the previous 2 years, to this. Completely different.
My other fave is Kelly. I know how singles behave, and I'm not deluded enough to call a song's total performance after one week. Looking at some of the other artists in your signature, do you consider their sales tragic and embarrassing?

The real question is how long will it take for PI to outsell Rise's first week sale...

If she or her team didn't care about success, they wouldn't have been floating about those first days iTunes positions. Her manager doesn't even tweet anymore and you can still see that screenshot of iTunes so they clearly care. Just because she is underperforming now they want to pretend that it doesn't matter to them anymore.
She just doesn't have artistic consistency. She is not true to herself but to whatever she thinks will get her more attention. Sure Artists evolve but from arriving in an egg on a red carpet, doing that rape apologist video( thank goodness she didn't release it) to putting tape on her boobs with a crop top when performing there is a huge stretch.
In my opinion it's too late for her in the pop scene and we will see as you say she doesn't care anymore so she won't promote her music or album or go attention seeking with her personas then she will truly get what she wants right? But if she does care about charts and success then can't wait to see the damage control.

Correct me if I'm wrong but PI was more successful than Rise in its first week.
PI: 100k sales / 1,000 + 22m AI / 1,050,000 + 8.3m streams / 120,000 = 190 points
Rise: 137k sales / 1,000 + 14m AI / 1,050,000 + 4.6m streams / 120,000 = 188 points

Don't start. PI had a radio deal and was on Spotify. Rise did not and was an AM exclusive.

Again, I'll bring up Kelly. She has literally brought up in interviews when her songs go #1 on HAC radio, saying "we're very happy about that". Does that mean it's her main concern? No. Her record label and team cares, of course they do. But it doesn't mean she makes music simply to be #1 on the charts.
You're literally making up things you want to believe. Watch any interview this era, Gaga literally does not stress about it like she used to. She almost wanted to quit music a few years ago bc she wasn't happy, and took time to reevaluate why she fell in love with music in the first place. She's in a different place now.
She is very true to herself. And are you saying that showing skin is trying to get attention? That's messed up logic. Besides, she's literally worn jorts and a crop tops this era, nothing crazy.
It's not "late" for her in the Pop scene. She can make Pop music for however long she wants, and she will. And again....people like Kelly don't have it as a main concern, but they still do promo for their music because they enjoy getting out there and talking about their work that they're proud of, they love performing, and they have a team of people behind them that wants them to promote. I"m sure Gaga's going to promote some eventually, but she's not stressing about it.
