As for her lack of drive, it's her own fault. Her music is being received accordingly. She should probably stop trying to be an art connoisseur one minute and then suddenly a relate-able rock princess the next. Just make some damn pop music, that's what people loved you for. That said, she probably enjoys making the music she makes these days so good for her, she just can't blame the GP/industry for it's unwelcome reception.
