This sounds so weird I know, but if they had a free tier, I would pay for the hi-fi service. (I could use my student discount so it would only be $10/month.) Let me explain. I totally agree with the idea that artists and songwriters should be fairly paid for their work, so in that aspect, I'm totally pro-Tidal. I also love the idea of lossless audio streaming. However, I also believe that art should be available to all those who wish to enjoy it, which Tidal does not seem to agree with through the exclusion of a free option - by only offering their services through paid methods, they basically imply that they believe that only those who can pay should be able to enjoy art. As I value that last point the most, I guess I'll be sticking with Spotify for the time being.
