I don't understand the whole "Perfect Illusion is not the sound of the album" thing

#1 - If It's Not The Sound Of The Album, why is it on the album? Is it like the elephant in the room? A Sore thumb?
#2 - Did they think it would be the most GP friendly / hit worthy song?
#3 - Why is it the LEAD Single if it doesn't represent the album? Don't they want to hype up the album and the direction that it's going in?

It's just all confusing

I send it to three friends when it came out and they were so scared to say they don't like it (cuz they know how excited I was for it) that they just said " its different" and that's it

Adele released Hello instead of SML cuz she said SML doesn't represent the album which is true, whereas Hello does + it's one of the best songs on it

Gaga has too much power guys, let's just admit it. She has too much power, to chose her own singles and **** and it's NOT WORKING for her.

And on top of that the only people that have more power (Interscope executives and Jimmy Iovine) love her so much and believe in her, like all of her songs (remember Jimmy picked Applause as the lead single ) and they don't care that much about making money out of her and so on.

To be fair, she did say it wasn't a concept album. So maybe there isn't just one sound on the album billboard actually said there was a lot of different things going on in the album too. So I think she just means don't expect the album to be full of PI.

And if you don't really care for the song just be excited that you might get a load of new material that you may like. I really don't know what to tell ya

She went to NY ones anyway she needs real effective promo like GMA/Today/late night shows

Literally when have lead singles ever sounded like the albums they come from? Gaga's like one of the only pop stars who's regularly served leads that aren't deceptive/the most commercial song on the album (because she serves quality albums instead of quick lil singles) .
