Y' all we all have high hopes for the album, but can you all imagine if she serves us another ARTPOP, with producers like Mark R and so on

Ikr? It's so obvious she's doing this for critical acclaim. It seems so forced. She's completely abandoned her music style and aesthetic, and she thinks she's above pop music. Perfect Illusion sounds nothing like a Lady Gaga song in structue, lyrics, and even vocals. She's going to make a basic performance video for Perfect Illusion when she used to be one of the best visual artists. And this album cover makes it all so obvious she's just copying the minimalist trend of today. It's makes so me sad to watch this.

She should have learned from David Bowie. He evolved but he remained 100% Bowie. There is NOTHING Gaga about this.

Imagine if Gaga dissapears completely after LG5 and the perception is even worse than after ARTPOP and we all leave and then 5 years later we are all minding our lifes and stuff and she comes back and smashes like crazy

I don't see this as abandoning "Lady Gaga" at all.

The reality of her situation is that she had to evolve from a career perspective and she clearly grew up personally too. Doing more of the same wouldn't have worked commercially or creatively.

I see what she's doing with Joanne as her sharing a side to her that she's teased from the beginning but hasn't felt comfortable committing to before now. Its also a side to her people have been asking her to explore properly for years. If anything, she's having the last laugh because all she had to do to demonstrate a more personal/legit side to her was take off the costume and reduce the dance beat. It's an easy gimmick when the other gimmicks were running out.

In terms of trying to go high brow by moving away from pop and gaining indie cred, she wasn't likely to achieve that sound with pop hitmakers. Naturally she went where the sound was. I wouldn't be surprised if Joanne is still quite pop but doesn't get taken seriously by the cool crowd, yet isn't commercial enough for top 40 either. Shame, but I'm so excited to hear the damn music.

The era has a week-old song and a handful of UK/US radio interviews. Besides that we have the album artwork. Not even the ****ing MV has dropped yet.

The song is not only good enough, the song is indeed great and is a hit material. I prefer to believe an actual team of people that make money on this rather than confused Lady Gaga fans disappointed with the fact that she's not gayGaga enough this time around.

We're seven days into new exciting era, plenty of things ahead of us and it seems we will receive her best album yet. At least, the most honest and raw. Yaas.

This is what I predict happening: the whole album will be like Perfect Illusion. Some of the best music of her career that is super fresh, but not what Top 40 wants and not quite alternative or rock enough to interest the good sistren at Rate Your Music or Pitchfork or whatever.
It's gonna be an album for her diehards and I'm ok with that if the music's great (it will be).
