so who's winning and losing in this? (not artists vs artists but producers, writers, artists etc)
Labels and publishing companies win big.
So really its artists that don't write or produce that will lose the most, but this isn't new. Artists were always payed last, and if you didn't have a hand in making the music you wouldn't see much money then or now. Also, if an artist has a good contract they can earn a lot more.
It's great that streaming is earning the industry more total revenue than ever but now in my opinion the problem is ensuring that it goes toward the right people.
It's fascinating to have witnessed so many changes in the industry over the years.
I think the one thing that's keeping me from jumping on the streaming bandwagon is that I like to OWN my music. I like having access to it in any environment of my choosing without having to worry about internet connection. I have like 15,000 songs, too. I also customize the albums/artwork/genres &etc. Streaming wouldn't allow me to do any of that, if I'm correct.

totally, thats why Tidal was innately flawed, the problem is contracts artists have with their labels about what percentage of revenue from streaming they receive
I want streaming expansion to support artists and creatives, not label CEOs and board members

I still hate streaming.
I don't get why people love it so much.
Because it's cheap and easily accessible. Why pay £10 for one album when you can pay 9.99 a month for pretty much an infinite amount of music? It's the future.

You can access it offline, you download the music to your phone (however you can only play it through the app) and play it regardless of Internet connection.
And there will still be people who are against streaming and want it to be 'like the good ol days'
