I notice people make an argument for CDs about owning it for the liner notes and so on. But honestly, I don't care for these. I don't really see the point in a 5 page booklet with photos and a thank you. Sometimes they don't even have a booklet. I just rip the album and the CD just sits there collecting dust. There's nothing sexy or great about a small piece of plastic that smells like factory. They feel flimsy, and I hate the un-packaging.


On the other hand, I own some records and it's a completely different experience. When you slowly take out the vinyl and place it on a table, and it starts with a light crackle and then the music starts which is pretty cool. You can't skip or rewind, the music flows like one track into the other. You get a huge album art that you can hang. And sometimes the records are colored, and the smell is better. Especially when you walk into a record store.

I only started getting into them last year and it's nice to see a physical form of something you enjoy a lot.

I mean whenever I get a CD I'll usually just quickly flip through the pages and examine the rest, then put it on my shelf but that doesn't mean I don't care about them. To me, they're still nice to buy, own and collect.
