Rumour has it that Lady Gaga is being given license to thrill, the pop-phenomenon is being tipped to sing the next James Bond theme tune. And we reckon the star is as good a candidate as any.
The wacky Telephone singer will be approached to sing the new James Bond movie theme, according to tabloid reports. Sam Mendes is directing the presently unnamed 23rd Bond movie (or Bond 23 as it’s currently being referred to), starring Daniel Craig as 007, and The Sun claims the eccentric Poker Face star is top of studio bosses list to pen and perform the title track. The paper revealed,
“Bond bosses are all huge GaGa fans,” before carrying on, “Her sound and sense of drama make her the top choice.” The source added that “GaGa has the look as well as the voice to tackle a thundering ballad. She’s a great songwriter too. This is perfect on every level.” The decision to ask GaGa to submit a song was made at a recent project meeting. The singer’s odd title fits in well amongst the long list of outrageously colourful names of previous Bond Girls, the likes of Kitty Stroker, Plenty O’Toole, Mary Goodnight, Xenia Onatopp, Honey Rider and ***** Galore.
Canadian crooner Michael Buble has also been approached to submit a demo, whilst Amy Winehouse could get another chance at getting on the soundtrack after failing to complete her song for Quantum Of Solace, but only if she cleans up her act. Alicia Keys and Jack White’s duet, Another Way To Die was used for the 2008 film after Winehouse was pulled from the project because she was “too high”.
There is time for months of negotiation because filming has been put back – partly due to the recession and partly to make the film 3D.
