Well... She was too confident and too chart obsessed in the past. Now, it's easier for me to said "I don't care about the charts" than "OMG it has to slay or I delete my career"
Honestly I don't believe her. I know when somebody lies or not... Then why would she take the guy of "Uptown Funk" and the one who produced "Sorry" if she didn't care about it ?

No shade, but Gaga is not in a position yet to say "**** the charts". If any artists wants to be remembered as a legend, they should have at least a decade in the game of being successful, like Rihanna, Madonna and Beyonce. No once cares about how high your peak was if your longevity is crap.
She gave up on her career to early if she really doesn't care about the charts. She's a POP star. Remaining popular is part of her job. I know the monsters think she has some huge legacy, but like like the OP said, pop fame is fickle and you can be here today and gone tomorrow and the GP will forget you ever existed. Gaga's peak isn't remembered among anyone under the age of 20 anymore. Which is why you keep working at being successful and staying current.

she didn't actually say **** the chart, she never even said that she doesn't care, she just said that she doesn't write for the charts, which is obvious + she only said that PI was the first lead single she wasn't worried how it will do on the charts.
Doesn't mean she doesn't want her music to be successful....

I actually don't believe her. When Bey said it, she followed her statement up with clear proof of no ****s given, to the annoyance and dismay of many.
I think Gaga cares, but it's cooler and a lot safer for her to claim she doesn't. And TBH, there's nothing wrong with caring. I wish my fave cared. The amount of caring is the issue.

Well not catering to radio and not caring about how successful a song is.. Is two different things.
Artists like Lana say " F the charts." Release videos/ music and goes about their business.
- Gaga has been doing a radio tour and isnt the song gonna be used in tv commericals. She cares.

These superstar labels spend millions and millions to hire producers, writers, publishing, promo... ya'll really naive if you think they are some kind of masochists who want to lose money, everyone in a mainstream label cares, no matter if they admit to it or not. Lady Gaga has shown that she is somewhat of a compulsive liar since the beginning of her career, she has some identity issues, but anyways, you can not care about the charts while making good music, which was not the case here.

Exactly. For instance Katy is obsessed with it, I know it, you know it... Yeah.

It sounds like she was trying and she failed. Contrary to what you believe, she can't simply snap her fingers and get a hit at the drop of a hat.
If the only thing standing in the way of her success is her "trying" then why did Artpop happen? She herself said the songs were intended to be hits and yet we all know how that went.

DWUW was not a ****ing hit wtf and Applause is forgotten, the only thing it has a chance of being remembered for is the song that got overshadowed by Roar. The album did not sell decently at all. BEYONCE, Bangerz, PRISM, Unapologetic, etc. all outsold it by a decent margin. The tour flopped, it couldn't even get to 100M after the fantastic BTW ball.
ARTPOP flopped, and not hardly.
OT: Honestly I feel like she said this because the GP is over her.

DWUW was top 10 on Pop, peaked right outside the Top 10 on the Hot 100, sold over 2 million WW and is Platinum. It wasn't a huge smash but it was a hit, it's ridiculous to say otherwise.
And Applause sold over 4.5 million WW, spent 14 weeks in the Top 10, peaked in the Top 5, it was a hit single. Just because you think it's forgotten doesn't mean it is.
ARTPOP debuted with first week sales not at all far off from Bangerz or PRISM. And ARTPOP sold around 2 million WW, Bangerz sold only slightly more than that. The tour was a success, what are you talking about?
That's all from an era that basically ended a few months into it.
The receipts are clear and although it underperformed to people's expectations, it wasn't a flop by any means, and it's low-key delusional to say it was.

Exactly. If Demi Lovato had an ARTPOP sized era then it would be deemed successful, but this is Lady Gaga and when the likes of Miley Cyrus and (arguably) Ariana Grande have bigger eras within the same time frame then yeah it's a flop
