Kanye was a token rapper only for the pretentious rock/alternative stans, for the mainstream public he's too polarizing to the point of deny his work. Eminem was the mainstream token. Now Kenny is kinda for both type of public, J.Cole too but to a lower level
Kendrick is a much better lyricist but Kanye is a great producer and knows how to utilize samples and features to his benefit. They're in different lanes. Drake is more along the lines of token GP rapper right now though.

He never was and neither is Kendrick, Eminem is the token rapper
But I agree that Kanye's music has lost all its popularity, nobody cares anymore about his music career, it's all about his gimmicks and being married to Kim K.
No shade but Kanye has never been good. He is a good producer though.
You're kidding right?

OT: No. His material is alright but he's overrated to high heavens. Chance is someone I'd say could topple Kanye. I'm a fan of Kdot but he didn't replace Kanye in any way.
