Album sales aren't the only things that matter; Taylor has sold more singles, garnered more acclaim, earned MANY more awards, including some of the highest honors that can be achieved, and, of course, grossed more on tour.

I'm not downplaying Shania's success by any means - she was huge in singles AND album sales, especially the latter. But Taylor is an all around well-balanced artist who's been going strong for a full decade now.
