Mmmm, on the first listen... the first time I heard the beat I had the feel I got the first time I heard Gimme More, not comparing, and clearing it out, I'm only talking the first couple seconds of the song.
On the other hand, I see a lot of 'When Love Takes Over' elements on it, she tried to mix the powerhouse vocals the way Kelly Rowland did. 'I'mmmmmmmm not myseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelf tonightttttttt' kept screaming 'When Loveeees Takes Oveeeer', not quite, obviously the original better, but yeah, both different.
About it being dated, I believe it does NOT, if anything, it gives me 2008's The Fame vibes AT SOME POINTS, but not TFM AT ALL.
The talking part it delicious, and yeah as the song grows it suffers the Xtina curse, you kinda get tired of it after the second chorus, you like the song a lot but you'd like her to shut up for a while AND SHE DOES IT, wich is a smart move, they shut her up and let the best part of the song, the beat, sound.
I feel like it's the mix of all mentioned before with some kind of originality or lack of it, but still together, it does NOT sound, like current Kesha or GaGa or anything in the Top 40, however, it's by no means a memorable song either, so we'll see, top 10 I say, peak at 06 just like ANOM.
