If you could live through a particular Era or period in the life of a musician which pre-dates you what eras would they be?

I'm a huge fan of 'Truth Or Dare' and after re-watching it countless times, re-watching the Blond Ambition Tour on YT over and over and even seeing the documentary 'Strike A Pose', which follows the BA Tour dancers 25 years after Truth Or Dare I am very interested in and wish I had witnessed Madonna between 1989-1991 first hand (LAP, Blond Ambition, Immaculate Collectiion, Truth Or Dare) these were her prime years and she could do no wrong during them imo.

My father is a huge MJ fan and both he and my mother make me wish I had experienced MJ during his prime years in the 80's. Thriller is the biggest album Era of all tiime, from the music, to the videos and everything associated with that tme it really seems like a time to be around and to be young and watching it play out in real time. 4 years after Thriller he released Bad in 1987 and it also is one of the best selling albums of all time, the music, the videos, the look and everything. MJ ruled the world and sometimes I really wish I witnessed that first hand because I don't beleve we will ever see superstars on the level of MJ ever again.

Stevie Wonder between 1973-1977 (Talking Book, Innervssions, Fufillingness First Finale, Songs In The Key Of Life) he was at the zeneth of both his commercial and critical success and was releasing groundbreaking album after album, 3 album of the years, not to mention SITKOL which was one of the longest running #1 albums at the time of its release and only the 3rd to debut at #1. Not to mention that at that time for the first time you had black artists particularly Stevie and Marvin Gaye who began pushing socially/politically driven albums that spoke to the black experience in the country. It was an Era of black consciousness right after the Civil Rights movement had taken place. Stevie Wonder is my all time favorite artist but I'm 20 years old and sometimes wish I could have experienced him when he was at his pinnacle and actively putting out hit albums and singles rather than just discovering them 40+ years later with the passage of time and added sentiment/bias.

MJ's Thriller era is by far the one era I wish I was around to see. The album came out 5 years before I was born, but I was raised on MJ's music.

Besides the Blond Ambition Era I would also have loved to witness Madonna when she first hit the scene. I remember one of my professors talked about how all the girls n his school would be dressed up as Madonna, and how his grandma though Madonna was like an ant-Christ , he went to see Desperately seeking Susan with his GF at the time and basically every girl there was dressed like Madonna.

I came in to say I wish I could FULLY live the entire 90s music scene. But since it's down to one particular artist, I would say still 90s, but Madonna, Mariah, and Celine. My three faves.

I see Diana Ross is your avatar? Do you wish you experienced he prime years in anyway? My mother is a big fan and according to older family members Diana was the first massive Black pop Diva of music, it would have been iteresting seeing her as she was really the first to do it.

Like all 6 of the channels in the U.S. turned to "Thriller" when it premiered. My dad was so confused

I'm pretty happy I got to witness all of Britney's eras, though I sometimes (on iTunes now) wish I had been a little older for them.

I wish I could've followed Kylie from the start and Gaga though I got into her in 2009 which is fair enough.

I forgot Rhythm Nation, it coincided with Madonna's Blond Ambition Era and to witness the two of them during their peak years would've been amazing.

I'd also like to add the 1960's simply because of Motown, Nobody else (with the exception of the British Invasion artists) was releasing continously great singles like Motown was during that era. Throw in the social/poltical revolutions that were taking place at that time and it seems like a very interesting time to be alive. That's the furthest back I'd go though.
