This is, for the most part, a fallacy. Yes your metabolism does technically slow down the less you eat, but it's so marginal that it doesn't really matter at all. We're talking 100-200 fewer calories burned per week. The only thing that truly matters for weight loss is that your calories expended are greater than your calories consumed. Figure out what your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is and eat ~25% fewer calories than that amount, and I guarantee, no matter what or when you eat, you will lose weight.
