Except (once again, check the article I linked!) Samsung is asking some customers to pay for new phones outright and then get reimbursed for their Note 7 later. No one should have to be out $500+ while they wait for Samsung to get their act together

There are waiting lists for new Note 7s and the protocol for returning them has been a mess in general.
"Personally contacted," big whoop, they sent emails. Believe it or not, there are millions of smartphone users who don't constantly check their emails or keep up with tech news. It's only been a week, you can't expect everyone to know.
