Groceries store have been having trouble with people buying tons of gift cards using false or stolen credit. They have been telling their employees to notify the manager whenever there is someone trying to buy multiple gift cards at a high price. I've had multiple people attempt to do this scam with me, and I was only a cashier for 7 months. Disneyland, where I work now, also had a huge section of their training speaking about this type of scam.

400 dollars is not really that much, and she should have simply notified the manager in this instance. Idk if it was racism, it could have been. But it likely happened because of the recent chain of scammers attempting to use this scam in California. Normal people don't usually buy that many gift cards, so it's not surprising it raised a red flag.
