Even if this song does moderately well, I can see this being Gaga's lowest performing era commercially if the general vibe I'm getting of LG5 is accurate. Who ****ing cares though honestly? I'd rather have a flop pop era than a successful jazz era. (Sorry Tony.)
This. It's obvious this song won't do much but the album is going to be glorious and at least it may be praised. It does not matter how much it sells as long as it is quality music! Like I legit do not care too much about success, as long as she gets a top 10 and like two top 20's I'll be very good.
My only complaint about this song is that the instrumental is slightly too quiet and her haunting bridge vocals are way too quiet. And the semi-grating vocals, but I've gotten used to them so it's whatever.
I think this era will do surprisingly well, not necessarily chart wise but the fact she'll be supported by the people who matter - the people who are willing to spend the money and appreciate her music, her live shows, etc. Those buyers at the clubs partying, music lovers who respect her artistry and talent.
The general public doesn't love music. If they did, the profits of each record labels wouldn't be plummeting per annual. Sales wouldn't be abysmal. We wouldn't be amazed at Adele's sales. People wouldn't have been amazed by Amy Winehouse's look, songwriting and voice and they were because of the CRAP that was on the charts. Ed Sheeran wouldn't have crossed over to the US if the country itself would fund its authentic artists and not mannequins who can't do anything without a team.
All I hope for is that people generally favour it, and buy a ticket to her world tour. That's where the money is.
One thing i am low key thinking is that this song could be a streaming "force". Like maybe when all is said and done she will amass 200 million spotify streams for this song. Kind of like Dangerous Woman and Into You
I'm still wondering what the hell the original announcement color scheme was hinting at? The only thing I can think of is maybe it was hinting that the "Perfect Illusion" was people expecting the "old" pop Gaga with LG5? Other than that I see no correlation to the song. Maybe the video will shed light? Although I doubt it from the photos we have of it so far. We'll see though.
