And we are too aligned with music. People generally use playlists and singles these days, albums aren't really a thing. However us stans tend to love albums and worship certain artists, so we're looking at things different. I can assure you my friend who "loves Katy Perry" (but isn't a stan) doesn't have a CLUE about her sales, why Rise flopped, which her songs went #1 etc. But being part of stan world - I do!

Katy Perry's record label will see you as the general public. You are such because you don't know how her upcoming album sounds like, you likely will not know unless you work for her, or are a part of the project (barring leaks). When it gets released you will know how it sounds just like everyone else. Because you are the general public.
When a event says closed for the general public, unless you're apart of the "in" group you are the general public and thus barred. Just because you know a lot about something doesn't make you the general public. That just makes you an expert on something. Unless you're hired for your expertise, you're still the general public. Had you been an editor for Billboard then you're not the general public.
