They were on TWO shows. That's promotion! Why release a song in English and then perform it in America if you're not trying to promote your act.
Whether they're trying to "break" America in the proper way or not, it's still them dipping their feet in the waters here. I just found it a little odd that they were doing it at all. I'd rather not see them become a joke here in the US like Psy was.
