The Sum 41 frontman was married to the Canadian rocker for three years until their split in 2009.During that time her alleged stalkers turned their attention to Deryck as well, particularly one British man who sent him death threats at such an expert level he eventually became the subject of an FBI investigation.
“My ex-wife had a lot of stalkers. And being married to her, they sort of wanted to come after me,” he told Vice.com. “There was this one guy from the U.K. who started sending death threats. He was really weird because the stuff he sent had no fingerprints on it and it was at a level that was a little bit more sophisticated. It turned out to be way more serious and he wanted to kill me for some reason. Thankfully the FBI found him over here (the U.K.).”
Avril has had a number of stalkers, such as James Speedy from Seattle, Washington who was charged with felony stalking in 2004 for bombarding the Sk8er Boi star with letters and emails. However, it isn’t known which stalker Deryck is referring to.
