I'm moving out next year and you are scaring the sh*t outta me

What is that haiku in the OP?

I've lived in my own apartment for 7 years now. Here's what you need to do.

Save For
Deposit
Pet Deposit if Applicable
First Months Rent
Renters Insurance
First Months Utilities if Possible

I can't say for sure exactly how much you need since I live in cheap ass Texas, but for me it would be something like
Deposit - $300
Pet Deposit - $300
First Months Rent - $600
Renters Insurance - $15 a month
First Months Utilities - $80 electric & $30 internet. My apartment covers water and trash.

Then you'll need furniture. I would say for someone moving out for the first time, the necessities should be a bed, some sort of storage unit for clothing and other items, a microwave, and some sort of seating for guests. Not all of this is absolutely needed - I slept on a mattress pad for about 6 months before actually getting a bed and I was fine.

You'll need to think about food too. A quick trip to the grocery store and about $50 later and I can have all my meals for the week. You don't want to move in and be hungry.

This is all coming from someone who moved out individually. I didn't do the roommate thing for a while, and only did it with a friend when I had the opportunity about 2 years after my initial move out. I never looked on Craigslist for a roommate.

Gal it's scary but it's fine. But you do need to have a stable income & need to understand your net paye (money you literally receive into your account) - your expenses - how much you wanna save = how much you then can spend on what you like.

Also some other tips

Don't be afraid to take furniture from the trash. Maybe not sofas or stuff like that, but a set of dressers or a bookshelf is easily cleaned after recovering it. A can of spraypaint can make everything look like it's a set once your happy with what you got. You can also look on the free section of Craigslist for furniture as well.

If you don't like that idea, I went to IKEA a few years ago and was able to get a full bedroom set and then accessory furniture for my living room for about $750 which really isn't that expensive when you think about it, but if you're moving out on the own for the first time you might not be ready for all the initial deposits and a trip to IKEA.
