Stranger Things has to be the most overhyped netflix series this year but why? It's cliche, predictable and worst of all....boring. Besides a great soundtrack, what does this show do to garner such acclaim and interest by the GP?? I fail to see it's popularity besides it being nostalgia pandering??
All the child actors are going on talk shows and getting famous, like good for them but it feels really cringey? The show is average at best I just don't understand...
It was only "cliche" in the way that it took inspiration from so many classics, but in my opinion it managed to make the material its own. The writing was fantastic, the acting was fantastic, the cinematography was fantastic. You're entitled to your opinion, but it's you who's missing something, not because everyone else has no taste and can't spot a poorly written show.
I wouldn't call it groundbreaking, and I don't think anyone sees it as so.
It's a well-written homage to the days of Spielberg and Stephen King. I didn't think it was boring by any means, but's that's subjective. I don't even particularly like movies like ET or The Goonies, but Stranger Things had great suspense and mystery.

What kind of tragic projection...and no I don't watch any of those shows. My favorite shows are Orphan Black, Twin Peaks and I loved Jessica Jones which was a Netflix series too. So try again..
It's good but agreed I said the same yesterday, I don't seem to love it as much as everyone else.
Maybe it's the 80s feel that makes it special.
Yeah I mean I just felt like it was alright if anything its more the reaction to it that shocks me like?? I just didn't see what was so amazing about it. It was even something fun to watch tbh
It's an amazing show. Unique storyline, interesting characters (for the most part), and very dense. It's hard to find a TV show that doesn't distracts audience from the main story and doesn't stretch it out.
Using allusions is now a bad thing? The show was interesting and all of the actors did really well. It's not the GOAT but it did tap in to a niche market that has been completely abandoned for 30 years.

Scream Queens was just as campy and actually really good. Only the finale sucked.
