This isn't even true. The United States forms the bases of the worlds financial institutions. Countries invest in the US because they are the most stable economically. China buys bonds from the US because those tend to not default. The US always pays its dues on time. The more countries that buys bonds the more the US debt increases. China willingly does this because it's safe. Which is also the reason why the US dollar is the world currency.
