I think the fact that Drake hails from Toronto makes Sean Paul's point moot and invalid considering Toronto is where Sean Paul shot a lot of his videos and the Jamaican community is rather large out here and dancehall music is consumed by many. So for him to say Drake doesn't understand it is foolish imo. Yeah he may not be Jamaican but you don't have to be Jamaican to understand or connect to a certain style of music. Drake made his dance hall style tracks based on the fact that he comes from a city where that genre is prevalent. I can't speak for Bieber but I don't think Sean's statement really applies to Drizzy

I actually agree with almost all of it. The one thing I'd have to say is that Major Lazer does give a lot of credit to the Caribbean for its dancehall roots (at least in their older songs), especially for the fact that there are two members in it of Caribbean descent

That's not what this is about but Ok...

He seems pressed about KING Bieber, he's right about the other.

So how exactly are they supposed to give credit? Are they supposed to do a spoken word intro on every song to lecture people on the history of the genre? And how did Sia, who he collaborated with, credit the history of dancehall? By putting him on a remix to the song? Is that what he's REALLY saying Drake and Bieber need to do?

Also, the people "calling out" One Dance are beyond silly. It takes far more from African pop music than from dancehall. And Wizkid (an African pop artist) is even featured on the song.
