Will there ever be a cure for cancer?

Personally: yes, but not in my lifetime because the technology is not there yet. Maybe after quantum computing can run extensive testing tests on cancerous DNA but until then all we can do is preventative screening or mitigation of the symptoms.

It's possible, but it's also difficult because you have to isolate cells that have a mutation

I'm sure there are ways of finding which ones have mutated DNA, but they haven't released it yet

There's a cure in Sweden or something but the USA doesn't want to recognize it due to $$$

I kinda agree w/ #4. Cancer treatment is such a big money maker so I can see why some corporations etc. wouldn't want a cure getting out to the public.

Of course I believe there will be a cure for cancer.

A lot of disease, some of which were the deadliest of their times are now prevented and cured by simple shots and vaccination. I'm not saying they'll find a cure for cancer as easy to apply but just to point out that science is always evolving, improving; what seems impossible now will one day be a simple procedure.

Will that day be in our lifetime, that's an other question.

it's all about money. if the government pays enough money for scientists they will solve it in no time.

There's over two hundred types of cancer so I'm therefore predicting that a cure will not be available in my lifetime.

Just one type of medication costs about 800 million. Unless there's billions in funding and a time machine, it's unlikely..

I was once told by someone who knows much more about biology than me that there's unlikely to ever be a single "cure" for cancer because there are so many different types, i.e. it would have to be multiple cures. In which case it will probably be a long process.

Money always helps obviously, but it's not a magic wand - the scientific method takes time, no matter how much cash you throw at it. Unless there's a penicillin moment and we stumble across some miracle treatment (which seems very unlikely) it's likely to be a gradual process.

Eventually they will find treatments that are extremely effective for all cancers, much in the same way they already have for a lot of cancers. But there won't be a "take this pill and regardless of what cancer you have and it'll be gone tomorrow" type drug, no.

I don't think it is all about money. Universities and charities all around the world are spending billions every year trying to find a cure for cancers. And when they do find them - they do and will continue to get them into the treatment room. Sure, the pharmaceutical industry in a lot of countries (mainly the US) would lose out on billions - but if a Swedish university discovers it, they're not really going to care about the pharmaceutical industry being unhappy at them.

there are already forms of cancer that can be managed with oral chemotherapy pils and sent into remission by procedures such as bone marrow transplantation. we've made huge strides in the last century and we're making more discoveries every year. i get treatment at mass general hospital and dana farber in boston and seeing some of the discoveries theyve made and treatments they pioneer in actio is incredible
