Who has even spoken of racism? It makes one ignorant, to think that whatever set standards and ideals are the best and in fact is a very common western way of thinking.

It makes no sense for white feminists to oppose Victorian standards of the being female while deeming things foreign to them as "unclassy". Not taking into consideration that different women have different cultural backgrounds and whatever ideals and beliefs they have, and instead imposing on them their ideals of classy and feminism makes them as divisive as the anti-feminists and sexists they're rallying against and hence why certain groups feel that these feminists only appeal and advocate to and for a certain category of women which is the white middle and upper class women, hence the term "white feminists".

White feminism just seems to be a buzz word for SJWs who like to bash white people but don't want to get too bored by only generalizing and demonizing white straight men. Based on this thread, people can't even agree on a single definition for white feminism. What's next? "Cisgender feminism"?

White feminism is exactly what it sounds like. It's white women who are all about equality for themselves but leave out WoC. Cisgender feminism is also honestly quite a thing. Many feminists exclude trans women from their movement because they don't see trans women as 'real women'.

All this feminism stuff is just annoying tbh. Everyone wants to be a feminist these days and doing stuff which doesn't align with the actual movement.

When I was in second grade. This white girlnKathyrn McGinnis and I didn't do our homework. Our teacher wrote our names on thenl naughty list. Kathryn started crying and screaming throwing a fit so Mrs. Meyers took her name off the naughty list and left mine. I asked her why my name was still on the list if she let Kathryn get away with it and she gave me an 'x' (an extra bad point) for talking back to her.

Similarly, my other friend Catherine got pulled over by a cop. She didn't have a liscence she didn't have insurance she was on her way to a PARTY. She started crying and told the cop her mom was sick and she was going to the store pick up her medicine. Again crying and screaming. The cop let her go and she went to the party. when I got pulled over by a cop i was literally 2 streets away from my house. I had my liscence but I didn't have my insurance. I told the officer I was coming home from a 12 hour shift at work and I lived down the street (the truth) and he said "too bad the law is the law" and he had my car TOWED. I know this is pretty obscure examples but damn girls have so much privilege when it comes to cops.

I'm inclined to agree. Or maybe it's just that atrl is too inarticulate to properly explain it, because this thread certainly doesn't do that.

Anyways, I'd say it's hugely an ignorant term based on a flawed philosophy. Make no mistake, the achievements feminist have won, have benefited all women. Just because there are other issues at play besides gender, which is the sole focus of feminism , doesn't mean the movement has an obligation to redefine the definition and movement to include such factors.

People who subscribe to the concept of "white feminism" are clearly under the opinion that there needs to be a focus on women of color/different ethnicities, but yet the issues they face are not solely due to their gender. They are intersectional. And besides, where does it end? If you include race, you should theoretically include sexual orientation, the issue of perceived beauty (bigger than race), height bias (a very real issue for men & women), educational background, etc...

The point? It's impossible for ANY movement to be inclusive in the way the proponents of "white feminist" desire, as the movement itself would have no focus & therefore no power. Fighting for women alone benefits all women, even if not equally. If you're wanting people to specifically address the manifold issues faced by midget black lesbians, wait for them specifically to speak up.

Bit like how black Americans only care about police brutality when it's committed against them or how they were getting annoyed at other races during the Oscars so white nonsense for wanting to be included in the movement, aye?

I don't get it. People in this thread saying that woc suffer from both racism and sexism, which is true. But then the "white feminists" ignore their racism struggles and focus on the gender struggles. But isn't it want feminism is all about? Why would you expect them to care about racial issues because they are feminists? They can care because they may think it's a problem, but what does it have to do with feminism? no one expects feminists to care about the Syrian war because they are feminists. No one expects feminists to care about the latest earthquake in Italy because they are feminists. You should care because you are human. If you don't care it's not because your feminism is fake.

Because Women of Color are Women too. Lesbians are Women too. Disabled Women are Women too. Trans Women are Women too.

Choosing to ignore all of these realities does the entire movement a disservice. It is absolutely a problem of feminism, because feminism was not made for white women. This is why the pejorative is called "White Feminism". It is easy to focus on the social group that has the most relative power (White Women), but the reality is that the majority of women in the world are not middle-upper class beautiful white women, which is really what "solely focusing on gender" boils down to. It's a matter of privilege and access to resources.
Also, The Syrian War and earthquake in Italy are kind of unrelated examples, the later especially has little to do with women specifically. (The Syrian War does, but that's for another time...)

More importantly though, deciding that you are a feminist doesn't mean you are ideologically locked out of anything else. Most feminists I know are ideological pacifists, humanists, humanitarians, race theorists, etc. Feminism and its sociological outtake are very much applicable to other movements; Black lives matter, the LGBT rights movement overall, etc.

What I still don't understand is why it's only the feminists that get dragged for it. BLM supporters for example do their important thing and no one cares about their opinions and actions regarding disabled people, LGBT rights etc.
