I was just wondering why most people say African American and not European American & Asian American?
Also, why do most European & African Americans ask Asian Americans what country they're from?

People do say Asian American.

And people assume non-European Americans are from elsewhere cause racism.

Of course you have, but isn't it true that you hear AFRICAN AMERICAN every god damn time somebody talks about a black person, and ASIAN when somebody talks about Asian Americans?

You don't hear European American very often because people assume most white Americans are of European descent anyway

White American is more commonly used

… um… I hear "black" and "african-american" like 50/50. for me neither of them is more uncommon or common than the other.

but I do hear "asian" more than "asian americans", but I've seen people lowkey starting to use "asian american" more nowadays

It's just weird how we label the word "American" as a white person

Because of the past racism in US government. If you weren't white you pretty much had to have a label.

I've never heard it in my life. I have heard Black/African American, Asian American, etc though.

The majority of the county is descents of Europeans, so why would "European American" be a commonly used term? White people had plenty of time to make that happen and chose not to. Also, people do say Asian American.

I don't think the term "African-American" is used correctly. People use it for every black person they see without knowing their past. Most black americans are so far gone from being African, and then there are also those who are black but are from the Caribbean and are not "African". I think it's better to use the country where you're from like "Colombian-American" or "Nigerian-American". If not I just say black or white

White American is appropriate because majority of white Americans are just a mix of a lot of European heritage decades or centuries back, ask a white person what their heritage is and they’ll likely tell you something like 40% irish, a quarter Italian, 10% French, 10% German, 2.5% Polish and 7% Cherokee Indian

The reason why African-American exists is not for the reasons stated above.

Back in the 60s, blacks didn't know where they came from. White Americans could easily say they came from Germany, England, Ireland, etc. Blacks never had that, so to give pride and to remember their history they started to call themselves African Americans. Blacks created this label, because for the first time blacks had a name for themselves created by them, not whites. So calling themselves African American was to give them pride in their past, and remembrance of where their ancestors came from.

So really, African American is a valid thing created by blacks themselves not whites.

Skip the euphemisms and just say 'black'.

Because the default American race is white/European (dont @ me, this is just how the world sees it) so people find it redundant to refer to a white American as White/European American when "American" is sufficient. African American and Asian Americans are seen as foreign or other, so they need a way to classify us as an American sub-category.

everyone is african. the whole mankind came from there. poor those who discriminate black people and their culture.

Funny how people from US like to label themselves as "AMERICANS" as if the rest of american countries didn't exist.
