People know their family trees all the way back to the 1830s? I'd struggle to even get back further than 1900, and that's only because I could go ask my parents their grandparents names, otherwise my family tree starts in 1932

It's not like they're being offered an all expenses paid guaranteed spot in University, they just get a second look since their ancestors were forcibly moved from the town when they were sold. I bet next to none of them actually benefit, it's just a nice gesture.
