During the AIDS epidemic it was pretty much considered a gay issue and something that the LGBT community needed to worry about. Since then of course there have been many straight people affected too and it is obvious that anyone regardless of their sexuality can be suffer from HIV/AIDS.
But do you think the GP and the mainstream media still view it is a primarily gay issue?
once rock hudson died of AIDS-related complications, that's more than likely when people started to stop calling it "gay cancer"/a "gay disease"/a "gay virus" and started to learn that the virus is not picky with whom it infects and who it doesn't.
No, for example in orphanages in Eastern European countries nurses use(d to use) the same needle for all children for medications and HIV is spread that way. I hope people are still not that ignorant to think only gay men have HIV
Yes, plain and simple. I think many know that it's a problem for all people but it's still an easy insult to throw at gay men.
Not that gay men don't have it coming to them. These are harsh words but the lack of safe sex in the gay community is disgusting and frankly I don't feel bad for them. If you're consenting to sex, wrap up your dingdong. If you're the bottom, MAKE SURE the top is wearing a condom. Bottoms are way more likely to contract HIV from a positive top than a top is to contract it from a positive bottom.
