They're actually not that similar. Some Portuguese tv shows have subtitles in Brazil.
Hum.. Maybe that's a Brazilian thing, plenty of Brazilian shows are played here and none have subtitles, everyone understands them perfectly. But then again Brazilians were never the brightest
