Yes but it helps his chances. 90% of people who don't post bail are declared guilty by juries. Just another way in which the justice system is rigged to benefit the wealthy.

ATRLers still not knowing what bail is he gets this money back as long as he appears in court when they tell him to, he only forfeits the money if he fails to appear. Also this doesn't mean he's innocent, it just means he doesn't have to wait in prison until his hearing

He also gets the 250k back if he paid the full amount and attends court. If he took the cheap way and paid 25k for a bail bondsman he doesnt get it back.

Like a poster above said, juries convict someone more who can't post bond vs someone who does (if this even is a jury trial.) Lastly, it allows him to make money in case of an appeal if he loses.
