I think Madonna fans tend to just be elitists. Anything "black" is considered immature for her (even though she has worked with black producers since...well, always) and will call music crap just because it doesn't sound 80's or 90's.
Prime example: Celebration. Extremely dated, but not R&B, and therefore a "gem" and "classic." Even though it sounds like every other song from 1996.
