Nicki started dressing normal before Gaga.
And the majority of her weird outfits were inspired by harajuku culture, something she talked about for years.
It's evident that she started teh 'weird-artsy-wardobre' trend among teh g3rls in America. Of course it's not that it never happened anywhere or ages ago, but by 2008 this wasn't a thing and after she got famous it got common. Coincidence? Guess nawt.
Haters can pull as many obscure pics of obscure artists as they want, it won't change the fact that Gaga did influence the popscape with her style when she debuted.
Objectively speaking, GaGa really did influence some of these females. When she debuted and became huge, nearly every woman in the industry started to wear weird clothing. I'm not saying she invented that because she didn't, she was obviously inspired by Grace Jones and Madonna herself but she definitely made it popular.
um yeah the 'wacky dressing' was a cute fad that she created that literally led to pop being more maligned by the public than it already was it barely lasted a couple years, idk why the monsters are still bragging about it...
Nicki started dressing properly in 2013...
you know...the year Gaga wore seashells on her boobs and smeared **** all over her face during the ARTPOP era?
I know you Monsters want to forget that era happened but wake up please,
it's not a good look.
She did influence the pop scene for about 2-3 years using Grace Jones' and Madonna's imagery
After that nothing.
Let's be fair here, it was a mix of direct references to her icons and original outputs. What she did from 2008 to 2011 printed the new way pop started to function, whether she kept that work or not isn't important at this point.
Not only that but she influenced them with her whole visuals as well. Pop girls music videos before AND after Gaga show the influence she had on them too. She is always one step ahead, like singing about immigration, feminism and the lgbt community when it wasn't "cool" or popular...
