Yeah sure one time thing isn't a big deal but as you said it's addictive and long time use is actually lethal
It's a local anesthetic. Meaning it can cause not only hallucenations but deadly side effects. It can supress your respiratory system (choke you to death) or cause arrhythmia (basically a heart attack).
So yes, it's very damaging. Not to mention that you can overdose so easily.
