All-around wunderkind Jaden Smith now has his own fashion line focused on gender-neutral clothing and we can’t get enough. The line, called MSFTSrep, was developed for people who want to dress like themselves no matter what, as Smith told Variety.
He said, “[The clothing line is for] the girl that wants to be a tomboy or the boy that wants to wear a skirt, and people try to condemn. We’re here for you. Tell us your stories. If someone at your school’s trying to pick on you, it doesn’t matter because Jaden Smith’s got your back.”
Gender neutral clothing lines are a bit 2015. Selfridges had a popup last year with Body Map, Nicopanda, Rad Hourani, and VFiles that displayed the idea of "agender clothing" , but it's sort of just a marketing ploy. Internally, all these clothes were gendered or just things that would normally be sold as male ("unisex").
I'm sure he has good intentions, the concept is tired tho

Like other "gender neutral" clothing lines, it's essentially just a line of basics (t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, hoodie, jogger) that would appear in any men's section, all in solid colors. If it's a line for "the boy that wants to wear a skirt," where are the skirts? Why do "gender neutral" clothing lines always come in really plain solid colors, with little design to speak of?
Zara did the same thing last year, basically a line of baggy grey clothes, avoiding anything that is typically considered feminine-only.

Because then it wouldn't be considered gender neutral. It's quite ironic because these lines always claim to be breaking down barriers but they actually conform to society's perception of gender. For example, as you said the colours are always darks because pink is associated with girls and blue is associated with boys.

I agree with this tbh, but I'm still proud of Jaden. He is so young but has a very refreshing point of view imo

Because if they have elaborate patterns and designs then they're female clothing, not gender neutral.
If men want to dress in women's clothes, they can, you know, buy women's clothes. The whole point of gender neutral should be that it does NOT look like women's clothes, and not like men's either.
