Kinda worried though, cause countries that I know for a fact are a bit iffy when it comes to homosexuality were in the upper half of the list

The western world

Syria has "unenforced penalty" (in the government dominated parts).

The penalty is temporary imprisonment but it's not enforced unless it's associated with another crime (blackmail, rape, pedophilia, etc). I personally have never heard of anyone getting arrested for being gay.

Don't need to check the list to know it's doing poorly.
Speaking of the GCC, Bahrain, Kuwait & Oman are the best. Homosexuality is legal in Bahrain, but not well-accepted in society.
Though if we're being realistic the UAE offers the most for the Arabian LGBT community. It's metropolitan, Dubai, offers the best everyday life in the Middle East. The death penalty thing is a turn off though.

Dissapointing as expected , I mean i know morocco is not LGBT friendly but if they take that legal fine or 3 Years max jail , this country could involve because it's a very moderate country and very open to western culture !

Not shocked at france either they still need to work on some issues , people still have homophobia there sometimes

No doubting America has improved a lot, particularly in terms of rights on a federal level now - but its nowhere near a lot of the countries that are "up there" in terms of society, so no, it shouldn't. Places like Spain don't have conservatives in Alabama that would puke if they saw two gays kissing - that drags you down.

Places like Norway and Iceland: they are free of Marco Rubio's, Ted Cruz's, and that mentality that people genuinely share. Even if some Republicans are coming around to the idea of gay marriage because their hand was forced by the Supreme Court - it still doesn't change the mentality of the millions of homophobes, particularly in the south.

So the Nordics are the place to be.
