And yes, she is currently the most successful of the legacy acts and has the best market because she has matured with her crowd and plays to that album-buying demographic. Your grandma can listen to a Celine or Barbra much easier than she can listen to Bitch, I'm Madonna or Thirsty by Mariah Carey and Celine could probably use that to pass Madonna in album sales if she works hard enough.

I agree and disagree. Céline won't surpass Madonna in albums sales, the gab is almost 30 million. Madonna does sell well too, Rebel Heart has sold some 1 million copies too.
The bigger question is whether or not Whitney (due to posthum catalogue sales) and Barbra could outsell Mariah and shove her all the way down from #3 to #5 of the alltime best selling female recording artists. Mariah has shipped 150m albums worldwide, Whitney and Barbra are over 145 million... probably over 148-149m by now. It's quite outstanding tho, that 100m of Barbra's total come from the United States.
