The brother of Nicki Minaj has been given more time to consider a plea deal in a case in which he has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl multiple times.
Jelani Maraj, 37, will have four days to decide if he will take a deal of 15 years to life, which prosecutors offered him last month.
If Maraj, who is set to appear in court on Monday, decides not to take the deal and is found guilty, he could face life behind bars.
Maraj was released from jail on a $100,000 bail after his 33-year-old sister, rapper Minaj, put up the bond which was guaranteed by the two homes she owns in nearby Baldwin.
Minaj has not commented on her brother's case, but the pair are close, with Minaj paying a reported $30,000 for his wedding on Long Island last August to longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson.
She had posted a photo of herself and her brother at the reception on Instagram, writing: 'I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will,' Nicki wrote.
Very lenient plea deal if you ask me since he probably won't serve that long...
Feel so bad for the poor girl and her family, and of course Nicki and her family.
I don't know why y'all are complaining about people referring to him as Nicki's brother, I mean it's not like he's relevant enough to be known by his own name.
They use it as cheap shade towards Nicki, disgusting.
His name alone wouldn't let the average person know that they're related. We discuss celebrity news on this forum, I don't think it's any deeper than letting users know what to expect from the thread.
